The company was founded in 1967 and headquartered in Fort Mill, United States. The White Trucks had started Western Star division naming it as White Western Star in 1970. By 1980 the White company became insolvent and most of its plants and nameplate were sold out. The Western Star name plate was purchased by Bow Valley Resource Services and Nova.
