Autocar Company specializes in manufacturing of vocational trucks, cab over designed. The company started in 1899, was manufacturing Brass Era automobiles. The company added trucks to their product lineup from 1907. Soon company released that they were far more efficient in manufacturing of trucks than cars. In 1912 Autocar decided to put the manufacturing of cars to an end. Autocar Trucks worked independently till 1953. Autocar was taken over by White Motor Company. In the 1980 during depression period, auto manufacturing companies were merging and were taken over by other big profit making companies. The White Motor Company was taken over by Volvo trucks. With this deal ultimately the Autocar became the subsidiary of Volvo trucks. in 2001 Volvo trucks lost its interest it the Autocar Trucks and sold the holding to Grand Vehicle Works Holdings. The Autocar truck brand is still kept alive as the GVWH sells its line of trucks having the name Autocar having on it.

Today Autocar Trucks has a line of refuse trucks and other vocational trucks. Autocar also gets yard trucks that are a part of GVWH.

Most of the Autocar truck customers are municipalities, private haulers and fleets. Autocar trucks are also the only manufacturer that serves the niche market. Today Autocar has more than 300 employees and after sales service ability is far better than the industry standard.

Autocar name is enough to guarantee reliable trucks, yet the company has many big names standing those include Allison ArvinMeritor, Cummins, Hendrickson and many others.

Many of the truck buyers look for used Autocar trucks to fulfill their hauling needs. These trucks are old yet are powerful to compete with new offerings. Let me discuss two old Autocar models Autocar Acm64 and Autocar At64f.

Autocar Acm64 was manufactured when the company was under the management of Volvo trucks and this is the reason the truck is equipped with a Volvo made engine.

The Volvo engine was mated to 9 speed transmission. Heavy duty Autocar Acm64 refuse truck is offered for $7,000.

Autocar At64f is more popular than the previous model and was manufactured by the Autocar when the company under the management of the White Motor Company.
